October 27th - Mike Pace

Mike Pace, a chef at Callaghan’s Irish Social Club in midtown Mobile says that more than any issue, he just wants the election to be over. It’s official, election malaise has consumed Mike Pace.

“At this point I want this vote to be over,” Pace said. “They’ve been doing this for two years, while not doing the job we are giving them a check to do. It’s just way too much time to be running and not doing your job.”

With seven days until Election Day, Pace is ready to accept the next president and watch the country respond to his policies and leadership. The rhetoric of the past few months has left Pace longing for results, not more speeches.

“I can do this, I can do that…well great,” Pace said. “Let’s see this person get in office and make it happen, I’m ready for the next four years. It’s not like either of them can ruin the country in that short of time.”

Pace, who has voted in every election since his 18th birthday, said the 24-hour news cycle only adds to his desire to see the candidates disappear for while and for America to vote. According to Pace, watching the television has become more of a task than a form of entertainment, trying to dodge the talking heads on cable, and the candidates commercials on every other channel.

“All this talk on television just leads people to fight with each other. They want to fight, are willing to fight, no one person should have that much power over our emotions we are willing to fight for them.”

“Americans will make this system work as best it can,” Pace said. “And at the end of the day I hope we’ll all get along and just make it work for the better”
