Forget who “holds” the purse strings, Mike Sealy wants to know which presidential candidate will finally tie them off.
The registered nurse from Fairhope, Alabama is a lifelong Republican who is disappointed in the spending spree of the current administration. But more important than chastising President Bush for his mistakes is wondering about the future of government spending.

Sealy said the implementation of another 150 billion dollar bailout, even in the form of a economic stimulus package, is ill-timed and would likely have a negative effect on the economy.
“That is the thing in a capitalist system, when you are rich and making money, great,” said Sealy. “But when it busts it busts. Don’t come asking for money.”
Sealy’s frustration is that taxpayers who were responsible with their income are being punished for the frivolous behavior of those choosing to take risky refinances and outrageous mortgages. According to Sealy, who owns his home, the government needs to let some businesses and individuals fail, including Wall Street.
“I wasn’t for the bailout to begin with,” Sealy said. “I don’t know where [the government] is getting their money from, but they need to keep some of it.”
Sealy believes in a balanced budget and in the principle that the government shouldn’t spend what it doesn’t have the money to pay for up front, or quickly repay. He is also concerned that if the Congress and the Presidency are controlled by the same party, either party, that spending will continue to increase.
“Right now you can’t tell a Republican from a Democrat, they all spend our money and I’m not sure they’ll stop for anything.”
