FAQ’s
Why a bike?
Gas is too expensive. The bike sets a nice pace and allows me to meet potential voters. Also there is minimal environmental impact.
What makes you qualified?
I love cycling and have a background in politics and journalism. Beyond that, nothing in particular. Willingness?
You’ve worked for a few conservative politicians, am I really suppose to believe you aren’t a “raging conservative?”
Trust me, I’m not. I love politics, democracy and America, not party doctrines or ideologies.
Are contributions tax deductible?
No. The idea came to me on July 4th and there just wasn’t enough time to file 501 (c)(3). I will send you a t-shirt and a thank you card!
How expensive is your trip?
Very. The costs are numerous, varied, and never ending. Contributions help offset these costs and allow me to provide a better product by using cooler gadgets and better technology.
Can I ride along for a leg of the trip?
Absolutely! The route is still being finalized, but my mother (yes my mother) is coordinating rides with local groups and friends. The dates may change, but I am definitely looking forward to meeting as many voters as possible. JointheRide@electioncycle.com
Are you concerned about accepting sponsorships? Won’t it effect what you write about?
No. I am reporting the profiles as I see them. No advertiser has a voice in my editorial process. And every other news organization takes advertising, this is just different because I will be wearing the logo’s of my advertisers on my person.
How cool is Ryan Stewart?
Significantly cooler than his picture suggests. He is Oz.
What’s your process for finding voters?
Varied and spectacular. Randomness is a big factor but thought has gone into which the cities and states I visit. The cities I have chosen so far have a wide range of socio-economic classes and are in states that might be considered “purple” or “swing.”
Where are you staying?
With you! No, just kidding. Maybe. Friends have been volunteering space, but I will also be staying in hotels.
